HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

In-Class Assignment: Hand-coloring with Selections

Goal:

Work closely and carefully with Photoshop selections, Hue/Saturation, Layers and Opacity to hand color a detailed 300 DPI photograph for print and display.

Details:

You will choose a file taken for a previous assignment and ensure your file is a 300 DPI image, around an 8x10 or so.

Take care to ensure your photo has some nice detail and different shapes and sizes to work with.

You will remove the color information from your photo by going to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.

You should create new layers when you are experimenting with a technique to ensure that you are not changing the original photo.

You will create selections with a variety of selection tools -- Marquees, Lassos, Pen, Quick Mask, etc. -- and then re-color them using one of the two techniques we outlined in class.

Submit:

One printed, hand re-colored photo.
